Great post. For all of those who read Dodger Thoughts and were directed over to MSTI for this piece, bookmark the blog. It's a different spin on our Dodger news and these guys are relentlessly funny.

The Dodgers do have a good chore of young kids

C-o-r-e. The only chore here is for Colletti to keep them instead of making stupid trades prompted by stupid sportswriters.

Thanks, Babe! And everyone else who commented. This actually made more than one other blog. I think we hit a chord of anti-Rosenthal sentiment out there.

"Hodges, Campanella, Drysdale, Hershiser, and all the other home-grown Dodgers? The reason why we were good back then is because we had home-grown talent that we stuck to"

These guys all played either before Free Agency or right at the end of it. It's real easy to keep a team together with a reserve clause or collusion.

One thing that wasn't mentioned in this response article is Ken Rosenthal was given a topic and a deadline. He did his job. So people disagree with it. Big deal. The Dodgers do have a good chore of young kids but, if no additional acquisitions are made, this good chore of young kids will not win the World Series next year, and will be in stiff competition for the Division Title.

It should be a fun team to watch, but without a few more moves this team isn't going to win it all in 2008.

Next seasons free agent market will be better, but equally expensive. If the Dodgers play the system right they could get the one or two parts needed for short term improvement (something to that removes Juan Pierre from Center and maybe a 1 year deal for another pitcher) and hold out for the key acquizitions next offseason. By then the young guys will have more than 100 games under their belt and will be better prepared to make a serious run at a title.
