I'm 75% with you on this reaction, maybe even 95%. The 5%-25%? Recalling Jeff Mathis at Rancho. Great numbers, of a sudden a top catching prospect in baseball. Oops. Big flameout at Arkansas and two seasons in Salt Lake. Catchers have a habit of disappearing, though comparing the numbers, Santana's spread between his average and OBP looks much more impressive than Santana's at the same level. If he becomes a Victor Martinez or a Pudge, Ned should be hung for this deal.

Peter Gammons explains why Carlos Santana was involved in the deal.

• The reason the Indians were able to get Carlos Santana, a very high-level prospect, in the Casey Blake deal is that the Indians took on all of Blake's remaining $2 million salary. Several general managers around baseball wonder if L.A. doesn't have cash flow problems.

Pathetic is about the only response to taht.

I definitely agree with you here. I could understand Meloan although just a year ago he was one of our kids with a bright future. But Santana!?!? I know we have Russ at catcher and thats awesome. But I was excited about having Santana down in the minors for his trade potential. I imagined a trade deadline next year where we had Santana to dangle for someone of a greater impact. I just think Ned F'd this one up big time. Blake is a fine player, but not enough for Santana. I hope Ned gets the boot soon.
