That's a great story. Are you an East coaster as well? My grandpa is always telling me stories about seeing Ruth and Gehrig and the like back when he was a teenager.

I'm also jealous of the fact that he's seen several games that either: (A) contained top-notch future HOF players, i.e. any of the 50's & 60's Dodger teams, 50's NY Giants, 50's Yankees teams, etc. or (B) took place in some CLASSIC stadiums that no longer exist, i.e. Ebbets Field, the Polo Grounds, Shibe Park, etc..

MSTI - I saw that Joel Sherman article too, and immediately had this thought: If Billingsley were to leave via trade to the NYY for Cano; before fans even consider removing Colletti from the GM position, the fans should first consider removing Colletti from his balls...
---
BTW - Just saw my first game in Yankee Stadium on Saturday (as much as it pained me to step foot in that place), and I just have to point out for those who didn't know - because I really didn't have a clue until going there myself - that stadium is a SHIT HOLE, plain and simple. The main reason I went (as part of a bus trip with, UGH...Yankee fans - yes, it was a LONG bus ride for me) was due to the fact that it's the last season for the stadium, and I wanted to share in the history of my (also a major Dodgers fan) Father's greatest Yankee Stadium moment:

He loves to brag that back when he was in the Navy in the early '60s, you could get into MLB games for free if you were in the service (as this was a time of war) so long as you wore your uniform, and thusly he was fortunate enough to see many games during his service time. His favorite moment at Yankee Stadium, aside from seeing Koufax pitch in the '63 WS, was booing Mickey Mantle.
