Cosmo, I wouldn’t mind trading for Beltre. In fact, I suggested doing so a few weeks back in my 2009 plan. I just don’t think it’ll happen.

Thanks for having the guts (masochism?) to read Plass-hat’s carp, and then summarizing the inaneness, so that I have an idea of how well he continues to be a gas-bag without having to read anything he scribbles. I saw the interesting headling at LAT.com, but skipped going to the article when I saw the byline. I especially like his revisionist history of where he stood in the past.

Good. Now that FJM is gone, someone needs to take the torch on hammering this fat, bald nothing into the ground. Lets get Manny and Sabathia signed and then call it an off-season.

But really trading for Beltre makes so much sense. We should be able to get him cheap enough because he has only one year left on his deal, which is a good thing. Beltre would be playing during a contract year back in LA, and we all remember what happened the last time that was the case. Also should we want to go in another direction once he is a free agent, Dewitt or Martin or some other could take third while we get draft picks from Beltre leaving. If we want to keep him, the expiring contracts of Schmidt and Jones make that very possible. Regardless of all the criticism, Beltre is one of the best defensive third basemen if not the best, and is the best available offensive one as well.

have not read the article but sounds similar to the plan I wrote in the starting pitcher review comments. One thing about the offense is if Kemp were to become that mythical power hitter we all hope for, than he and Beltre and Loney and Ethier could form a good middle order.
