Bill Plaschke Stands By His Words… Until He Doesn’t
June 28, 2009 at 9:30 am | Posted in Bill Plaschke, Manny Ramirez | 11 CommentsAfter a long weekend, I decided I needed a comedy pick-me-up, and therefore headed straight over to see what kind of drivel Bill Plaschke was writing about today. As expected, it’s yet another diatribe about how Bill’s got the vapors that no one’s as horrified over what Manny did as he is. In fact, Bill couldn’t find a single person at the Inland Empire park who would agree with him. Which means, I don’t know, that maybe Bill’s completely out of touch with the public?
But that’s not news; we’ve all known that for quite some time. No, here’s what really caught my eye: the fact that Bill Plaschke drove out to Riverside County to watch Manny play for the 66ers. Because, if you didn’t know, Bill’s got a Twitter page, and this is exactly what he said just 4 days ago:

Yet here you are, just a few short days later, doing just that. It’s even better when you see his next post right on top of this one (Twitter posts are listed chronologically, newest at the top):
Such a short ride from “I refuse to go!” to “okay, I’ll go, but only to make fun of him and try to create a story that doesn’t exist”, isn’t it, Bill? If only the distance between “journalism” and whatever exactly it is you do was that short.

Thank you, I hope more Dodger blogs rip Plaschke for what he is — and he is everything you say he is. I do not read the Times, and I even quit reading Dodgers Thoughts merely because Jon Weisman joined them. The hypocrisy. Weisman built his entire blog around being an anti-Times outlet, and then he turned tail and ran directly to them once they offered him a job. Get real, moron. (weisman, not you). Only time I see or hear Plaschke is when I watch Around the Horn, maybe once per month. He tries his hardest to make these ridiculous stands against humanity, for nobody knows why. He doesn’t write good articles, he doesn’t make quality points-of-view, and I wonder how he remains a public face for the Times.

I wouldn’t bash DT for going to the Times, Jon’s still had his moments of pointing out Plaschke’s shortcomings. Either way, it’s hard to say that when you don’t read him anymore.
But I totally agree with you about how Plaschke is SOMEHOW the public face of the Times’ sports section. I don’t know ANYONE who think he’s a good writer; it’s mind-blowing.

“Weisman built his entire blog around being an anti-Times outlet”.
He did? (Don’t be ridiculous.)
He, and hundreds of commenters on his blog, still criticize Plaschke as much as they ever did. (So, for that matter, does S.J. Simers, in the Times itself, for what that’s worth.)

I liken Plaschke to a semi-dried, fully crusty, puddle of piss in front of a public urinal; avoid at all costs.

Why do I get the feeling that Plaschke would have been one of those idiots that boo’ed Nomar when he went to bat 2 weeks ago?
Reading his article made my eyes buldge out of my head. He needs to retire to his front porch and chase kids off his lawn while wearing house slippers and waving a cane in the air.

Beautiful twitter find.
Maybe we should tell Bill that we’ve heard there are some like-minded people he could track down…in Antarctica

MSTI, are you going to force me to re-unleash the Plaschke at a Beijing restaurant during the Olympics video? Gaaahhhhhhhhhhh!! The toolness! It burns!!!
Now look what you made me do:

I apologize to all you blog readers for reintroducing that Plaschke video, but one has to admit that this video epitomizes the essence of Plaschke’s douchebaggery.

The really stupid thing is that the Times could have kept Adande and bought out Plachke. Too bad, because Adande was a worthy successor to Jim Murray.

I agree with you Alireza, Adande would definitely have been better than Plaschke if the Times did keep him. Oh and I loved the video of him eating a penis. Hahahaha
