It’s Our Turn This Time

dodgersfightphillies.jpgRemember the varied reasons that I laid out in trying to decide if I wanted to see the Phillies or the Rockies in the NLCS? You know, things like “2009 record”, “weather”, “national visibility”?

Yeah, I’m going to stick with “spite”. I like that one. “Spite” it is. Series preview coming today!

(Also: man, I was thinking this as I was watching the end of the game last night, and I’m glad Rob @ 6-4-2 mentioned it as well: what in the hell was Jim Tracy doing not bringing in a lefty to face Ryan Howard?! You get what you deserve, Rockie fans).

  1. I thought the same thing. Wasn’t Joe Beimel still in the pen. I know Tracy wasted Morales earlier, but leaving Street out there was akin to having Paul Quantril pitch to Steve Finley. Deja vu, huh?

  2. An absolute joke. I don’t care that Street “is your closer”. A), he was wild, and B) Howard has an unbelievably large platoon split. Just an indefensible decision.

  3. Wasn’t it against Philadelphia earlier this season where Torre brought in Johnny Brox in the 8th to face the Philly righties at the top of the order and then used Sherrill in the 9th to get Utley and Howard? I expect to see that reverse closer combo at least once or twice in this series.
One thing concerning me — if this series goes seven games, we’re probably going to have to beat Lee in Game 7. It looks like he’s going to start Game 3.

  4. did they have any lefties left? i watched the game and i remember tracy used biemel in the top of the 8th (i think).

  5. That is it! Gibberish Jim finally showed his mettle. For the past several months I was wondering when the Pod Person using Tracy’s name would finally complete the changeover. It appears to have happened this weekend.
It will be quite hilarious to watch Gibberish Jim get into full WTFspeak, but when he does, those six Rockie fans will die off like the mythical Padre and Snake fans.
