broxtonfail

I had an entire post written out about tonight’s game.

I can’t bring myself to even look at it right now.

I’m going to bed. Ugh.

  1. I hate Philadelphia. The whole city is dead to me.

  2. I’m glad you did this first, because damnit, I’m pissed, and I’m calling for Broxton’s head! No more of this “Oh, he’s a good closer, stat, stat, stat!” HE NEEDS TO GROW THE HELL UP AND SLAM THE DOOR WHEN WE HAVE A PRECIOUS ONE RUN LEAD IN THE F*****G PLAYOFFS!!!! DAMNIT!!!!!!

  3. Thus endeth a great year. Congratulations to George Sherrill, Dodgers closer for 2010.

  4. Sherrill? Are you serious? If he didn’t suck so much in Game 1, we could’ve come to Philly up 2-0. If he didn’t suck so much tonight in the 8th, Brox doesn’t come on in the 8th and then freeze in the dugout for 20 minutes before pitching like shit against Matt Stairs. Sherrill blew this game as much as Broxton did.

    • if sherrill had done his job in game 1 we wouldnt be in this mess…i cant believe we lost
      this f***ing sucks
he throws a godamn 100 mph fastball and rollins doubles
      u got to be kidding…
baseball is dead to me next couple of days…i’ll still root for em in game 5…but this is like getting kicked in the balls and shot in the head at the same time…

      • when i meant he i meant broxton

  5. I’m crushed. It’s all but over. I’m gonna start looking for a therapist in the morning.

  6. I know it hurts, but let’s not go overboard with the anti-Broxton stuff. Yes, Matt Stairs’ pact with Satan seems to be paying dividends for the Phillies, but Broxton is still one of the top closers in the league, and I wonder with whom you all suggest we replace him?

Now, it’s not over just yet, but the probability of us winning this thing just dropped below 15%. It might be time to start thinking about what beneficial changes might be made this offseason. Please note, of course, that trading Broxton is not an option.

    • I don’t advocate trading Broxton. I just don’t like him very much right now.

  7. If the Dodgers do not win the series for the second straight year because of his shitty pitching, then he better wear a bulletproof vest because there will be 3.5 million Dodger fans that went to game this year looking for target practice.

    • Right.

    • Not if I see you first you stupid fuck.

  8. Very disappointing finish. With their current ownership, can the Dodgers EVER make the leap to the next level? Two years in a row, I can’t believe it. No, I CAN believe it. Hard to believe Broxton blew it in that situation. Are ALL our young pitchers going to get spooked in the playoffs?

I’m bitter and I’m angry and I’m rooting for the Yankees.

    • circle the NL wagons, dude. i live in new york, and the spoiled meatheads here refer to the NL as “bAAAseball.”

still, one of the top 3 most crushing dodger losses i’ve seen in my 25 years of fandom.

    • Rooting for the Spanks? You call yourself a dodger fan??!??
I realize you can’t root for the Anaheim Angels either but don’t root for anyone else.

Root for 3 wins in a row. There are no excuses. Don’t talk trade. Talk comeback. That’s what they’re talking about in the clubhouse and that’s what they’ll be talking about in the dugout.

Sack up, not just you Scmolnick… everyone.

      • I can never root for the Phillies. Not ever.
And yes, it is possible for the Dodgers to mount a miracle comeback, and I’m surely hoping for that. But the odds are against it.

  9. It took our team 20 years to get back to the NLCS. I guess we will have to wait another 20 years to get to the world series.

Woke up feeling just like a guy in denial of seeing his wife cheat on him last night. It still hurts, and I’m still pissed.

    • Amen to that. As a guy who’s actually caught my girlfriend of two years cheating on me, I know how that feels, and honestly, the level of pain from the sight of both were pretty comparable. And both required a night of hardcore drinking to erase the memory and assuage the pain.

  10. Scores of the next 3 games:

    Game 5 — Dodgers 7 — Phillies 3

    Game 6 — Dodgers 6 — Phillies 2

    Game 7 — Dodgers 7 — Phillies 4

*Put it on the big board

  11. [...] to finish the inning and the next one without any damage. Faced with the Phillies once again in Game 4 of the 2009 NLCS, he again was unable to hold the lead, though he had allowed just one earned run in 5.2 previous [...]
