PEDS don’t disappear from your system immediately. You could see Manny fade as the season wore on and his system cleaned up. You can’t look at the OPS for the year, it’s not balanced. After the All-Star game his OPS was .838, which is about Casey Blake level (.831). And how many players not on PEDs improve at age 38? So we should expect a less-than-Casey-Blake from Manny next year. You think THAT’s going to take you further on the post-season?

But the money won’t be spent on getting better players. Manny was already pretty much off PEDs this year (he was caught coming off a cycle in Spring Training) and still put up ~.950 OPS this year. I’m more worried that age will be a bigger factor next year.

I may be in the minority, but I believe Manny is toast w/o his PEDs. A medium average hitter w/o power. I think that the Dodgers should try to void his contract, saying it was signed by a person who knew he was violating league rules. I say this, as long as the $20m goes to another hitter and not into a divorce decree. Man, things went downhill quickly after the Cardinal wins.

I’m sure I’m being a super homer just by saying this, but I think Manny was so embarrassed this year – and since it’s a contract year – that he’s really going to come back with a pretty nice 2010.

Besides, even though he wasn’t vintage Manny in 2009, he was still one of the best hitters in the league.

So conflicted…just so conflicted. Despite what some writers would have you believe, Manny’s still a great hitter and the best bat we have in the lineup. But there’s just something about him that pisses me off. Guess I’ll just enjoy this last year with him and hope he starts taking roids again in the off season. Either way we get the “juiced up” Manny or, if he gets caught, we get to spend his salary elsewhere.

Nay dude will play harder this year cos its a contract season. he got his money and had nothing to prove but this year he will play hard to show that his value is worth alot more. . . plus having the Devil as your agent helps too. thanks Boras for proving to me sodomy is legal
