Of any NL outfielder in 2009 Matt Kemp deserved a gold glove, it’s not surprising he led all OF’s in GG voting. He sparkled all year in CF, using his amazing speed to get to balls at the fence and amazing arm to gun down any runner who dare run on him. Congrats Kemp!! The first of what will be MANY gold gloves.

Great job with the glove! I am now more satisfied with the photoshopping of the glove than the actual Gold Glove selection process.

I liked Dewan’s plus minus runs saved better than uzr, and while I definitely think both have their merits, both seem to fall way short on evaluating the closing speed of fielders, especially on fly balls. Fowler of Colorado has a good jump on balls, a good right step, takes solid routes, and flies to the ball and rates worse than Carlos Lee in uzr. That’s a joke. Kemp and Hudson both are underscored by the metrics, and Hudson didn’t deserve a gold glove, but Kemp at the very least should be in the conversation with his amazing closing speed in CF and the defensive butchers to the left and right of him, who he had to cover.

No, that glove is green. Frog green, bile green, not quite sure what to call it, but it is definitely something any leprechaun would be proud to flash on the field.

That is one crappy monitor, my friend. It’s time for the boss to pony up for some new equipment!
