The awards keep on coming – Matt Kemp and Andre Ethier each get Silver Slugger awards, the first for a Dodger outfielder since Kirk Gibson in 1988. No complaining about these; both Dodgers finished in the top 6 among NL outfielders in batting runs above average.

Remember back in March when I pointed out how this was probably going to be the best Dodger outfield in decades, if not ever? Yep. No complaints there.

Kemp, by winning both a Silver Slugger and a Gold Glove, probably just saw his arbitration award shoot up enormously. Can we please sign him long term now?

  1. I literally laughed out loud upon reading this headline. Thanks for that.

  2. Could be debated. Regardless, I love how are outfield looks going into next year.

Now lets solidify that rotation. I would love to see us sign Padilla, Wolf, and one of either Bedard/Sheets (on a 1 year deal).

I think the nature of the 162 games season mandates having more than 5 starting pitching options. I wouldn’t even be against a 6-man rotation. Especially when 4 of the 6 will be relatively cheap (not Wolf or Kuroda)

  3. Rumors out there ned is trying to trade kemp for vasquez and their best outfield prospect who is a “true” cf. Horrid rumor

  4. Remember, Vazquez has that no trade clause for NL and AL west teams. He’s not coming west. And I don’t think anyone within the organization is trading Kemp at this point. I have not seen any rumors regarding Kemp. All I;ve seen is the Dodgers linked to Brandon Phillips so far, trade wise anyway.

  5. There is no way Kemp is being traded unless it is some sort of blockbuster deal.

I agree completely on signing Kemp now…but I wonder if the players would be reluctant to sign long term for a team that looks like it could be in flux with ownership issues.

  6. it could be debated as to whome was more valuable last year… manny or Juan…

just kidding, Juan was the worst dodger outfielder by far last year. Not that he had a bad season, he did terrific for us in a well times 3 weeks. However, that doesn’t me he wasn’t 4th outfielder material.

I still love the way the team is looking as long as Ned doesn’t blow it up with a dumb move. Just add Garland or Piniero to eat some innings, and maybe Bedard to eat some quality innings. I wouldn’t go past that in SP role though.
