Yeah it was a rough year for Cory Wade no matter how you look at it. He seemed like he was becoming a bit of a fan favorite too in 2008. He always seemed to get first pitch strikes and never looked afraid of anyone. Inspiring stuff.

Just from my vague recollection and looking at the stats, it appears that the curveball is a big part of the problem. It was worth 15 runs in '08 and it just looked awesome from a fan perspective. This year? -.8. Yikes.

Maybe it was the injury or maybe the league figured him out...but there's nothing preventing him from having a least something of respectable year in 2010. 4.00 FIP, 6 k/9 probably isn't too crazy (pending health). A few more ground balls would be cool.

I hope Wade gets it all back together next year and can come on up. The thing i liked about him was he never seemed to be bothered when he was put in stressful and important situations. I remember in 08 a lot of times he would go up in tight situations and he seemed comfortable. Leach i thought did pretty good. The main thing i remember is he always grabbed his hat and the brim was chalky. Both of these guys came up from no where, which, as you said, shows your bullpen is very inconsistent with who is in it and contributes.
