I am still at a loss over the love this management shows towards Jamey Carroll. He is Mark Loretta without the one or two very good seasons. I would rather hope Ned is still working the Royals for Alberto Callaspo. He is younger, has some offensive ability and will likely be cheaper than signing Carroll to a multi-year deal.

As for the news that Ned is offering any deal to Luis Ayala – I am not shocked. I suspect we will go after more bad actors because they come cheap. Another McCourt promise that goes by the wayside. If I remember correctly, he was all about high character guys, but after Manny, Padilla and now Ayala, the only thing that counts with McCourt is the outlay of money.

I’d have to think that with so many other teams in the mix, he’ll get a pretty nice offer. Clearly the Dodgers won’t be the high bidder, so they might be in it because they’re offering the one thing no one else is – a starting gig.
