MSTI Wins an Award

Oh, hey. How’s things? Nothing much going on here. Oh, well there’s this: LA Weekly named their “Los Angeles Web Award” winners today. Who’s that in the midst of bigshots like G4, LA Observed, Alyssa Milano, and yeah, even Perez Hilton?

How in the world this happened, I do not know, as the Dodger blogosphere is a collection of some of the brightest talents around, including but not limited to DodgerThoughts, TrueBlueLA, Sons of Steve Garvey, Vin Scully is my Homeboy, and many more – and that’s just baseball, because there’s also plenty of quality work for the Lakers, Kings, colleges, and so on. But I will take this as a sign that years of relentlessly bashing Juan Pierre, praising Matt Kemp, and working hard to kill off RBI & wins as relevant tools have actually been seen as useful, so I humbly accept. Thanks to Keith & crew at LA Weekly and anyone who’s taken the time to read or comment, good or bad, over the years, because you all keep me honest. My, how far we’ve come since the days of going against the tide to claim that Wilson Betemit should be starting at third base over Nomar Garciaparra, which is what I did in the 3rd MSTI post ever back in 2007. (Good lord, did I really use fielding percentage there? I suppose we all have to start somewhere.)

  1. Congrats again, Mike. Geez, I remember when we all started that ill-fated BBWC. Damn, it was a long time ago, but you well deserve this honor.

  2. I remember when all the LA Weekly was good for was for adult personal ads. Seriously Mike, great job.

  3. Congrats. Good job.

  4. Completely well deserved Mike. Congrats! Keep up the good work!

  5. Congratulations, Mike. This is well deserved.

  6. congrats Mike, well deserved award for a job well done over the years.

  7. Congrats MSTI. You’re no rug pisser!

  8. Congrats, I completely agree, best LA Sports Blog

  9. congrats!

  10. Congrats Mike, you honestly deserved this. In an internet full of great Dodger blogs, yours is the first I check daily.

  11. I’d like to add my congratulations also. I check you and Dodger Thoughts everyday. Thanks for the great blog!

  12. Congratulations on your “Best of LA” award, you damn Yank. Just kidding, you deserve it.

  13. Congrats! Whatever happened to Vin though?

  14. Congrats!

  15. Well deserved!

  16. Everthing is coming together. Loney done planing and my boy is called up today. Would love to see Sands playing 3b in AAA. Now we just need Eithier playing first and T-Ron called up.

  17. Oeltjen up, Vasquez booted off of the 40-man and Sands sent back to Albuquerque. Still have to wonder why Thames is still employed while Robinson and Hoffman are having good seasons. Ned can do one semi-intelligent thing and still screw the pooch.

  18. Congrats Mike!

  19. [...] No one’s going to believe me on this, but I was just now halfway through writing a post about how the Dodgers should demote Jerry Sands to Albuquerque and recall Trent Oeltjen to take his place. Halfway is apparently as far as I’m ever going to get, because Dylan Hernandez reports that the Dodgers have done just that. Predicting an otherwise out-of-nowhere move? Sounds award-winning to me. [...]

  20. Congrats Mike, well deserved.

  21. Congrats Man. We Enjoy the Blog. You do a great job of pointing out the folly of Dodger’s Management’s personnel decisions, AND the Ludicrous things that Lyons says on TV. You’re lucky you don’t have to suffer through Charley Steiner on the Radio.
Oh yeah, always love your back and forth banter with Chad on Twitter

  22. Well deserved!!!!! Only been a reader for about a year but I check the site multiple times every day for great insight from you and interesting conversations in the comments.

This would be so much fun if the team was a WS contender and we were debating who the team should acquire for the stretch run. Or that we got to poke fun at the G’nat and Pudres for being bottom dwellers.

  23. Schwing, dude! Well done and well deserved. You put a lot of work into this, but it is also, obviously, a labor of love — and it shows. It’s why we all keep coming back for more. Heck, anyone that can make the 2011 Dodgers even passably interesting deserves a fricking Pulitzer.

  24. MSTI! MSTI! With a heat loss, now if only McCourt was on his way out we could take out the expensive champagne :)

  25. Mike is almost as awesome as Russell Martin :-p

Seriously, this is very well deserved. Since Chad got too busy for his own blog, it wasn’t even a competition anymore. Amazing stuff.

What is the prize? Gift certificate for one of the “ladies” who advertise? :-p

  26. Well deserved at least IMHO. As an expat Dodger fan up in NorCal a good blog is a big deal for me, I need it to feel like I am in touch with my boys in blue. MSTI fills the bill nicely. All I want now is for you to have the opportunity to comment on a championship run! Won’t THAT be sweet! May the Baseball Gods smile upon you!

  27. This site has always been the best, the strange part is that it seems to keep getting better. So Kempish.

    • Aww, shucks.

  28. Must have been the card templates. Congrats

  29. It’s ironic that someone three time zones away is the most enjoyable Dodger blog when it comes to analyzing the Major League team and it’s minor league players.

Yours is HANDS down the best blog about the Dodger’s On Field Performance. Dilbeck is Blah, and Weisman is INSUFFERABLE, on par with Lyons!

I love Moriyama’s breakdown analysis of player performance the few times it comes out. We miss that from him.

  30. You would be MUCH better suited to be a part of the SweetSpot Network than what is there currently!

  31. [...] has broken every previous traffic record it ever had, thanks to you all, and I was lucky enough to win an award I had no business winning, to be interviewed on SNY, do a few video podcasts with Jon Weisman of [...]
